The Child, the Parents, and the Psyche is a two-part consultation for parents who wish to understand their child within the wider psychogenetic and relational context of family life. This service includes the study of three charts, mother, father, and child, along with the relevant layers of compatibility and relational dynamics that arise between them. The purpose is to approach the child with greater clarity by understanding the parental psyches, the parental relationship, and the atmosphere of meaning, tension, and inheritance into which the child has entered. Each session is two hours in length. The first session is generally used to establish the parental ground. This includes an individual reading of each parent’s chart, along with an examination of the dynamics between them. Their respective temperaments, karmic tendencies, emotional patterns, modes of attachment, and areas of pressure are brought into view so that the parental matrix can be understood with greater precision. The second session turns more directly toward the child. Here the child’s chart is studied in its own right, along with the dynamics between each parent and the child, and the broader three-way configuration of the family as a psychic unit. This allows the child’s emerging nature to be read with greater depth, while also clarifying how each parent may support, misunderstand, intensify, or stabilize particular aspects of the child’s development. This consultation is especially valuable for parents who want more than a general reading. It is suited to those who want a serious and careful inquiry into the child’s beginnings, the structure of the parental relationship, and the early psychophysical and psychic conditions through which family life is being shaped.
