Overview

The most mysterious and fascinating aspect of Vedic Astrology is the nodes of the Moon - Rahu and Ketu. They are the missing piece of the puzzle of astrology. They have been given various interpretations by different authors but unfortunately rarely with an exactitude that anyone has established a full spectrum of meaning for a clear and concise interpretation. The authors are either engaging in fantastical imaginary insights or intellectual excesses, neither giving clarity nor the methods to effectively make them work in practice. In a world of metaphysical divination sciences which are laden with falsehoods of imaginary interpretative excesses, precision and practicability are virtues worthy of worship. It is only now with my encounter with Ryan Kurczak and Ernst Wilhelm that a full spectrum meaning is being developed with respect to Rahu and Ketu. What is still unknown about these shadow grahas is acknowledged and what is known is articulated and theorised. If we take a telescope and point it in the sky we will not be able to locate Rahu and Ketu, but we can locate Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, etc. However, if we know Sun’s and Moon’s astronomical position, we can calculate the position of Rahu and Ketu. They are thus mere mathematically derived points in space but with great importance significance. Rahu and Ketu, having no physical body, no shape or size, no light of their own, no capacity to reflect any light, are thus like ghosts of the astrological sky and require a body to function. Just like a spirit, they require a body to work through - a sign, a planet, a bhava which they can possess and thus activate themselves. In an of themselves, they cannot do anything, unlike the embodied grahas such as Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Venus, and the rest of the planetary kingdom. In this session, we discuss the nodes of the Moon in the grand scheme of things. What Ketu must resolve through Rahu's explorations, and what Rahu must explore through Ketu's resolutions.
